Over the next several days, officers were unable to locate Mott. On June 17th, 2019 at about 8:49 p.m., officers went back to the apartment where the assault took place. While there was no answer at the door, it was apparent the apartment was occupied. During the incident, officers spotted Mott briefly walk out onto the balcony before going back in. The apartment was surrounded and more resources, to include the SWAT team responded.

A short time later, the front door was opened and the female victim was pushed out, then the door shut again. Communications with the suspect deteriorated and SWAT deployed gas into the apartment. At 1:01 a.m., the suspect exited the apartment and complied with officers. He was arrested without further incident.
