Head Coach Tony Baron and his Lady Bruin varsity softball team put together a 4 game winning streak at the end of the season and powered their way into the postseason.
The Lady Bruin offense came alive with 68 runs in their final 4 games powering their way past the Douglas Trojans and taking a 3 game series against the Sutherlin Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bruins played their final two games of the regular season on the road against the Sutherlin Bulldogs. In the opener of the doubleheader, the Lady Bruins put together 19 hits on the day. Peters, Pryor, Schofield, Jones, Harms, and Crosby each racked up multiple hits with Tillie Peters going 5 for 5 at the plate.
Gracie Harms took the mound for the Lady Bruins and gave up only five hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight.
In the late game of the doubleheader, Madison Taylor was the starting pitcher giving up 7 hits and striking out 5 on the day.
But again it was the offense that was the star of the show with 16 hits and 18 runs. Leading 11-8 after 6 innings the Lady Bruins scored 7 runs in the top of the 7th stretching their lead to 18-8 going into the Lady Bulldogs bottom of the final inning. Madison Taylor then shut out Sutherlin in the bottom of the 7th giving the Lady Bruins the victory.
Congratulations and good luck to Tony Baron, his staff and the entire 2019 Bruin girls varsity softball team.
