Bruins Continue to Devour Competition

Senior Pitcher Roman Worthey went 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out four.

Bruin varsity baseball Head Coach Keith Wallin has his team hitting on all cylinders as his team continues to lay waste to their schedule. Tuesday afternoon was the South Umpqua Lancers turn, and the Bruins did not disappoint.

The 7-0 Bruins hosted the 3-3 Lancers Tuesday afternoon and after a double play and a strike-out in the top of the 1st by starting pitcher Roman Worthey, the Bruins picked up their bats and the route was on.

Sophomore shortstop Payton Armentrout #1 started it off in the bottom of the first with a double to left field. 6 hits, 3 walks and some untimely Lancer errors helped the Bruins put 11 runs on the board in the bottom of the first.

However in the top of the 4th the Lancers were able to string together 4 hits in row scoring 3 runs before Worthey settled in and got the next three batters on infield grounders.

Junior center fielder Manny Zamora #26 had multiple hits in the game.

Worthey got the win throwing 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out four.

The Bruins will match-up with the Lancers again this Friday on the road in Myrtle Creek at 3:00pm.
