Last week, OSP received a report from a concerned citizen of an injured Bald Eagle near I-5 in the Sunny Valley area of Josephine County. Sgt. Benson, Trooper Gosse, and Trooper Ziegler managed to get the injured eagle in a crate and transported to Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center.
The Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center is treating the American bald eagle for a wound and high levels of lead.
The Bald Eagle was brought in from Sunny Valley by the Oregon State Police and is being treated for a deep wound on the bird’s foot with honey which is a natural antibiotic. The patient is also receiving pain meds, an anti-fungal medication, and oral antibiotics.
Those at the Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center are especially grateful to the folks who let the Oregon State Police Troopers know that this bird needed help. If you think a wild animal is injured, sick, or abandoned – you can always call our team to find out the best way to help!
If you’d like to help support this patient and the 1,000+ wild animals who arrive at our clinic each year donate here on Facebook or on our website: https://www.wildlifeimages.org/give
Special thanks goes out to the citizens for reporting this injured eagle. If you see any injured wildlife, please do not try to engage. Call *OSP from your mobile to reach OSP’s dispatch center.
