After weeks of reports of sightings with deer and pets being taken, a large male cougar was taken by a government trapper on Marine Drive in the Marina Heights area of Brookings Thursday, August 17th. The cat had reportedly been hunting pets and small prey for some time. Unfortunately after other measures to contain the animal had failed and combined with it’s proximity to local population including children, the animal had to be put down by a government trapper.
