A 77 year old man who was reported missing was found Wednesday morning by Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue after being stranded in the snow for two days.

Search and Rescue vehicle teams and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Snowcat team began looking for the man just before 2:00am Tuesday morning after he was reported missing in the area of Elk Creek Road outside of Prospect.
The Search and Rescue Snowcat team located the man at approximately 8:00am Wednesday morning, almost 10 miles off the Elk Creek Rd. on National Forest Road 6640.

The man attempted to turn his truck around two days prior, before becoming stuck in two to three feet of snow. He spent two nights in his truck without a functioning heater but was located in good spirits with a mild case of hypothermia.
