Early Tuesday evening, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck 44 miles west of Challis Idaho at 4:52pm. The quake was just over 5 miles deep and was felt hundreds of miles away.

The initial 6.5 magnitude quake was followed by 8 aftershocks over 3.0 magnitude all clustered within a 10 mile radius for approximately 90 minutes, with a 4.6 magnitude aftershock just 30 minutes later.
