A series of four earthquakes shook the northwest Sunday, September 15th, with the first being the smallest and earliest, and the largest striking off the Canadian coast mid afternoon.
The first small quake struck just west of Ukiah, California at approximately 10:50am with a magnitude of 2.9.
The second quake, striking at approximately 3:20pm Sunday afternoon, was 169 miles off of Port McNeil, Canada, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale approximately 6 miles deep. The 6.2 was followed by another 4.7 almost 3 hours later at 6:40pm.
The final of the four quakes was relatively small, registering 2.9 on the Richter scale approximately 40 miles southwest of Eureka, California at 7:55pm.
No tsunami’s or tsunami warnings were generated for the west coast from these quakes.
