5 Rescued After Small Plane Crash at Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in North Bend

Emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded Monday morning, April 7th, after an automated iPhone crash notification after a business jet flying from St. George, Utah overshot the runway at Southwest Oregon Regional Airport, prompting investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Initial investigation determined that just after 6:00am, a 2019 HondaJet HA-420 skidded off the runway at Southwest Oregon Regional Airport- North Bend, toward the R/R train bridge, coming to rest approximately 150 feet offshore in Coos Bay.

Public safety crews from multiple agencies worked to secure the plane, contain any hazardous material leakage, and remove the aircraft from the water onto a barge via crane.

The pilot and four passengers were recovered from the water and received treatment for minor to severe injuries at Bay Area Hospital. No fatalities have been reported.
