Scholastic performance is an important part of the Barron’s Star Student Athlete program, leading by example showing leadership, competitiveness, and work ethic both in the class room as well as in the community. This years ‘Star Student Athlete of the Year’ checks all of those boxes, carrying a 3.8 GPA with 5 college prep courses while also enrolled at SWOCC receiving his Allied Health Certificate earning 16 college credits.
In the Spring, Talan plays second base for the Bruins, participating in his third year as a member of head coach Keith Wallin’s varsity Bruins baseball team, recently helping the team to the 2024 OSAA 3A Baseball Championship game at the University of Oregon.
“Talan is a tremendous Student and teammate.” coach Wallin said. “His work ethic, both on and off the field and court is second to none. He is extremely deserving of any accolades that come his way.”
Talan is in the top 15 of his class, on the National Honor Society receiving High honors both semesters, received the Bruin Pride award for outstanding character and leadership, participated in community service helping with basketball and baseball camps as well as 4h Sheep and Swine livestock projects.
Congratulations Talan, we are confident that you will continue to be successful in any endeavor you should choose to pursue.
As a caveat to this award, the recognition goes to the student, however, the award goes to the parents, for their dedication to the students success, in the form of a beautiful gift card bouquet generously donated by local businesses.
Thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and In Motion Graphics who make this recognition possible through out the year.
