In the past week, since New Year’s eve December 31st, 2021, three areas just south of Eureka California have generated 12 quakes, all within a 20 mile radius.
Beginning just before 1:00pm, Friday, December 31st, with a 3.8 magnitude quake just 7 miles south west of Ferndale, 11 quakes above 2.5 in magnitude or higher have followed over the past week, with largest tremor being a 4.6 early Wednesday evening, and ending with a 2.7 early Thursday evening.
All of the quakes during this time frame between 2.5 and 4.6 in magnitude were considered shallow, with very little displacement, and no tsunami warnings, alerts or tsunami waves were generated.
