On September 11, 2018, at approximately 4:45 pm Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a three-vehicle injury crash on Hwy 101 near Colina Lane.
The investigation revealed that a DIRECT TV service van, operated by 41-year-old Jeris Doyle from Coos Bay, was stationary in the northbound inside lane waiting for traffic to clear to turn left onto Colina Lane.
A 1992 GMC pick up, operated by 20-year-old Zachary Story from Coos Bay, was also northbound when it struck the back of the DIRECT TV service van. The GMC pick up then lost control and hit a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, operated by 35 year old Robert Storie from North Bend
Doyle and Storie were transported to Bay Area Hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
Zachary Story was transported to Bay Area Hospital and then transported by air ambulance to OHSU in Portland with serious injuries.
