In the state of Oregon, according to the Oregon Health Authority, Oregon has tested approximately 3,300,000 individuals and 193,000 individuals have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. A total of 7,971 individuals have required hospitalization since the outbreak, and unfortunately 2,002 have died.
Vaccination issues continue to persist across the state as controversial decisions spur heated debate. Late last week, Governor Brown had 32,000 vaccines from rural counties redirected to northern counties surrounding the Portland area.
On Tuesday, February 2nd, the Governor’s office said it will comply with a Federal Judge’s order to state officials to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to all inmates in Oregon state prisons as soon as possible. Oregon joins only 5 other states that had not begun vaccinating those over 65 as of Friday, January 29th, and reportedly the only state to prioritize educators, staff and prisoners ahead of it’s elderly population.
Curry County’s latest numbers as reported Friday by the Oregon Health Authority, February 5th, now reports testing 7,514 individuals with 7,248 negative tests, 266 total positive COVID-19 tests and has recorded now 342 total cases and 5 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 12,617 with 12,533 negative results, 32 active cases and 894 total confirmed cases reported by Public Health, with 0 current hospitalization and 3 deaths.
Coos County to the north, reported testing 28,828 individuals with 27,653 negative tests, with now 1,175 total positive cases and now 17 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Josephine County reports testing 41,708 individuals with 39,764 negative results, 1944 total positive cases of COVID-19 and 37 deaths.
Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports 2,907 total cases after testing 68,630 individuals with 65,723 negative results, 302 active cases, 2,610 recoveries, 118 hospitalizations, and 30 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, February 5th.
Jackson County continues to see significant increases after testing 159,248 individuals with 149,641 negative test results, 7,673 total cases of COVID-19 with now 105 deaths as of Friday, February 5th.
