The Brookings-Harbor Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce it is currently accepting applications for the organization’s competitive scholarships. Scholarships are awarded for students pursuing traditional university educations, community college and vocational education at accredited schools. The application deadline is Thursday, March 1st.
Application materials and information are available online at www.bhsfinfo.org. Applicants are advised to follow the online instructions carefully.
The foundation, now more than 20 years old, expects to provide about $200,000 in competitive scholarships and some automatic grants to graduating seniors and past graduates of Brookings-Harbor High School.
“The foundation represents the community’s investment in the graduates of Brookings-Harbor High School,” says BHSF Board President Rebecca Olsen of Musser Olsen PC. “We’re proud of the Bruin graduates and happy to help them in funding their continuing education.”
The non-profit, independent foundation is administered by a board of community volunteers, many that attended and graduated from Brookings Harbor High School. Funding for the competitive scholarships comes primarily from an endowment and is supplemented with annual gifts from individuals and community organizations.
Additional scholarship funding comes in the form of a grant from GEAR-UP. It provides an automatic grant of $2,500 (over two academic years) to students who graduate from BHHS in the Classes of 2014 through 2020 and continue their education at a federally accredited school. Please see the special GEAR-UP application materials and due date at www.bhsfinfo.org.
For information about scholarships or donations, please send an email to bhsfscholarships@gmail.com. Contributions may be sent directly to the foundation at PO Box 7673, Brookings OR 97415.
Because the board is an all-volunteer organization, please allow at least 24 hours for a reply.
