After the Bruins reached the post-season for the second year in a row, and with the fall High School sports season coming to an end, the 3A/2A/1A-SD4 Special District 4 All-League Football honors have been selected.
The Wild Coast Compass asked Head Coach Shaun Bavaro what he thought of the selections…”It is great for these kids to get recognized, and I thought we were represented well as a team. I’m excited to watch them continue to grow and for what that means to the future our program!”
Junior Linebacker #11 Logan Holler – First Team All- League 3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
Coach Bavaro said…”Logan Holler is big part of what we do on defense. He is always around the ball. He is a kid that can play at next level if he wanted to.”
Senior Offensive Lineman #56 Averi Winn – First Team All-League Second Team All-League Defensive Line
3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
“Averi Winn has had a great High School career and has really improved. He has been our best lineman the last two years.” Coach Bavaro said. “According to other coaches in league, he drew a ton of attention on both sides of the ball.”
Junior Defensive Lineman Oggie Badger #5 – First Team All-League
3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
“Oggie badger gave us speed and leverage at our hybrid defensive line position and had a good season.”- Coach Bavaro
Junior Wide Receiver Jacub McCollum #87 – Second Team All-League 3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
“Jacub McCulliom has had two solids years in our program.” Coach Bavaro said. “He draws a lot attention from other coaches in league as they like to spy or double team him.”
Junior Tight End Andrew Burger #4 – Second Team All- League Honorary Mention Line Backer
3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
Coach Bavaro told the Wild Coast Compass that “Andrew Burger had a solid year and has really matured over the last couple of games. He is an athlete you can put anywhere and get production from.”
Senior Offensive Line Jason Vanginderem #53 – Second Team All-League
3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
“Jason Vanginderen was solid on both of our lines and even moved positions to help make the team better.”- Coach Bavaro.
Junior Defensive Back Kayson Christensen #9 – Second Team All-League
3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
“Kayson Christensen has made big strides and has become a solid defensive player. We are excited for him to return next year to our defensive backfield.” Coach Bavaro said.
Senior Running Back Manny Zamora #26 – Honorable Mention All-League
3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
Coach Bavaro said “Manny Zamora was a great leader for us and really had a nice senior year.”
Junior Wide Receiver Derek Tuttle #42 – Honorable Mention All- League 3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
“A lot of Derek Tuttle’s production was outside of league after learning a new position and had good year at the wide receiver position. He is another kid that will really help our defense be much improved.” said Coach Bavaro.
Sophomore Defensiveback Bradly Conduracki #21- Honorable Mention All- League 3A-SD2-S Special District 2 South
“Bradly has become a good addition to our defense and he is going to be a bigger part of our defense next year.” said Coach Bavaro.
We asked Coach Bavaro to close out his season and he told us… “Our kids wouldn’t be recognized with these awards if all of our players didn’t do their jobs as well.”
“This 2019 team” he went on to say, “worked and played hard the entire season, and I am very proud of what they have achieved. We send a huge thanks to our 9 seniors, and wish them the best in their future endeavors.”
