On Tuesday, January 14th, according to a Humboldt County Drug Task Force press release, special agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Eureka Police Department Problem Oriented Police team, served search warrants at multiple locations in Eureka.
After a multi-week investigation, Humboldt County Drug Task Force agents learned that 18 year old Giovani Enrique Ramirez is associated with a Drug Trafficking Organization operating in Humboldt County.
At approximately 6:00pm, agents located Ramirez in Eureka and was detained without incident. Agents searched Ramirez and his vehicle pursuant to a search warrant and discovered nearly 1.5 pounds of suspected heroin, 2 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, and 11 grams of suspected cocaine.
These items were located in a hidden compartment within the dash of Ramirez’s vehicle. In addition, agents located digital scales and nearly $4,000 in U.S. currency that was seized pending asset forfeiture proceedings.
Agents and Eureka Police Department Problem Oriented Police team officers then served a search warrant at Ramirez’s residence in Eureka, and an associated residence also located in Eureka. Agents located an additional ounce of suspected heroin and other items associated with narcotics sales.
Ramirez was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for possession and transportation of controlled substances and possession of a false compartment within a vehicle.
